Using marijuana while pregnant might be harmful for fetus

Does it affect fetal heart development?

A scientist named Gregory Robinson of the University of Western Ontario, Canada, announced he will publish an experimental paper on whether a heart deformity would occur after administration of THC or CBD to pregnant mice on December 31, 2022.

Robinson, Gregory, “The Effects of Maternal Delta-9-Tetrahydrocannabinol and Cannabidiol Exposure on Fetal Heart Development in Mice” (2020). Electronic Thesis and Dissertation Repository. 7593. https://ir.lib.uwo.ca/etd/7593

Without providing specific data, Gregory Robinson said that when pregnant mice were given THC daily, 68% of the offspring had heart problems, and that when CBD was administered, 73% had abnormalities.

Full spectrum cannabis extract

While cannabis is generally considered safe, chronic consumption may not be beneficial to pregnant women, especially to the baby, because cannabis and cannabinoids are known as a strong homeostasis agent and pregnancy requires a change inside woman’s body.

However, I think Gregory Robinson’s experiment, in which THC and CBD are administered separately, is flawed and cause deformity inevitably.

While history proves cannabis were safe as there was no record of banning it to pregnant woman, experiments with full spectrum cannabis(hemp) extract including THC and CBD should also be conducted to confirm the stability of administration.
